Designed as a luxury perfume brand, AMIRA is a start to finish product & brand design personal project.
The end goal of Amira was to create a full experience for a customer, from the design of the packaging and graphics, through the weight and texture of the bottle, and the carefully crafted scent.

inspirations

-
Drawing from the rythmic styling of plants & foliage of New Kingdom Egyptian paintings.
-
Egyptian lotus symbols, which often symbol rebirth and new life due to their cycle of opening and closing with the sun.
-
1920's glass perfume bottles - I drew inspiration from the many glass & metal textures
-
I wanted to focus on the silhouette of a lotus specifically for the opening mechanism, to mirror the opening and closing cycle of the real world plant.
product design process
Inspired by the concept of "ancient beauty", the process started with researching scent profiles and identifying how this narrative could be translated into the bottle’s silhouette and design elements. The goal was to create a product that communicates its value proposition clearly and intuitively through form, proportion, and visual language.
The goal was something that felt like a long held tradition.

Once a strong sketch was established, I began prototyping sizes with paperbaord and other available materials. Once I had the right scale, I began modeling in Solidworks.

graphic design process
Once I had refined my direction for AMIRA, I began the process of designing the bottle silhouette and product architecture to match. The biggest challange was identifying which designs had potential as logos or

With this project I went through many logo iterations in order to find the something that worked on primary packaging and on website & mobile.
The early logo process focused on eliminating strong but unrelated designs. For example, although the center right design is strong, it reads more as an beverage/alcohol brand than a perfume.
The final logo was selected for its strength as a standalone brand icon and its alignment with the intended brand perception.
I focused on clarity & simplicity.
