Happy, Healthy Smiles.
Flossi is a packaging system solution created to make flossing fun for kids all while solving the single-use plastic problem of traditional picks.
As a team project, I was responsible for all graphics, branded elements, and encorporating the graphical style into the dieline.

The Project Breakdown
Driven by growing concerns over microplastics entering our bodies, especially for children, this design concept aims to offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional personal hygiene packaging.
We started with coming up with a paper based design with molded pulp floss picks*. The mouth opening/closure was designed to fully open/close to:
-
Create a fun interactive experience encouraging kids to floss
-
To allow the package to be closed while not in use, preventing excess moisture and germs from entering the package in the bathroom environment.
The graphics were designed with soothing, cool toned colors to help the package feel clean yet playful. I also designed the packages so if aligned, they create the full body of the crocodile.
*Due to our capabilities at the lab, the picks pictured are 3D printed PLA. Reach out for more information on the working prototype.
Below are some of the project deliverables and collateral I created for Flossi.
Final Dieline with Graphics
A functional, market-ready modified paperboard standard, SBS board with custom graphics.
The design is made so multiple packages can be aligned to see the full body of the crocodile.

Moodboard

This moodboard I created in Adobe Indesign informed the design process from the very beginning, including typeface selection and customization, color selection, surface finish, and brand identity.
I looked for brands that promoted sustainable packaging as part of their marketing to create a strong baseline.
Concept Sketches

Very early on in the design process, we honed in on a crocodile because of their many teeth, which made for a great connection to a flossing company. We also wanted to create a hinged "mouth" opening, which a crocodile lended itself to very well.
